I'm looking for a replacement transformer for a 27" Symphonic
television. Model number WF2702.

The transformer sits at a location marked T601 between the primary and
secondary power block. Currently it is emitting a high pitched whine
when power is applied to the TV and the TV will no longer power on.

The following numbers are located on a sticker on top of the transformer:

00CPSA099
SA003D
SA 25TD

It's about 1 1/2" wide, 1" deep, and about 2 inches tall. Black plastic
with yellow tape wrapped around it.

I've tried contacting Funai Corp (the manufacturer), however, their
customer support people (who seem to actually respond to emails) won't
help with parts related matters and their parts department takes forever
to respond to emails (3+ weeks). So I'm looking for alternative sources
to find a replacemnt if anybody knows of one.

Hi Mark...

I very much doubt that the transformer you're seeking is the problem.

Take care.

The transformer is not the problem. You need to troubleshoot the
cause of the whine on the transformer.

The squeal from the transformer is caused by an overload on the power
supply. In-depth troubleshooting is required to find what is causing the
overload, including disconnecting active devices like the horizontal and HV
sections, etc. I'll bet you will eventually find something shorted.

First, I'd like to thank everyone who replied in such a short time and
apologize for my delay in getting back to everyone.

I pulled the transformer out of the TV before I saw the replies trying
to find a part number on this transformer after being told my a couple
of Symphonic's local authorized support centers that the numbers on top
weren't a part number. After several emails with Symphonic support, I
finally found out that I did have the right numbers and that it's a $3
part. I haven't ordered it yet however.

I gave up at one point on getting this fixed and was looking into buying
a Westinghouse 1080p Monitor. However, the w1 revision is at the end
of it's run and BestBuy (pretty much the only retailer) isn't getting
any new ones until the w2 revision comes out next month.

In the meantime, I thought about seeing what I can do with the TV I have
before tossing it to the curb. I'm considering ordering a new
transformer since I already have it sitting here on the desk next to me.
In the meantime,I think I'll take a multi-meter to the primary supply
side and see if I can find anything that's not reading as it should.
Any guidance here would be appreciated.

Thanks again everyone....
