Hi

I need some help with identifying a semiconductor and finding a possible replacement

The marking s on it are 4N0605 which i think is a IPD90N04S6-05

If this is correct i need some help with finding a semiconductor that does the same as i can't get one of these anywhere.

Thanks

Hi and welcome to Electronics Point.

Why do you think it's an IPD90N04S6-05? That number isn't very similar to the marking. 4N0605 could easily be a factory and date code.

The IPD90N04S6-05 is an N-channel MOSFET made by Infineon. Is your device in a TO-252 package like the Infineon part? Is there a manufacturer's logo?

What kind of device is it in? Do you know its function in the circuit? Can you upload a photograph of it?

Edit:

Harald beat me to it.

According to the data sheet it's a 60V, 80A, 107W N-channel OptiMOS-T2 MOSFET with an Rds(on) of 5.4 milliohms. Gate threshold voltage 2~4V. Gate capacitance typically 5 nF; charge typically 28 nC.

It should be possible to find a suitable replacement device using the parametric search functions on the Digikey or Mouser web site.

What package is it? And you could answer the above questions too; it might help.

Hi

Thanks for the reply. I believed it was that mosfet after doing so many searches that's why thought it's best to double check.

Basically the one i currently have has no marking's on it apart from 4N0605 it's currently in a charger which i purchased were somebody had revised the power inputs. It had blown two components one i have replaced. The unit now power's on but this last one as very badly damaged,

Based on what harald has said it looks the same as this IPP80N06S4-05

I can send you some pictures later

Hi Sorry for not getting the pictures sent sooner.

The first picture shows the one that's damaged the other shows what looks to be the same as there a row of these.

If you could help find one that's the same that would be great.

OK you're right, that's the TO-220 version, IPP80N06S4-05.

The Infineon IPP052NE7N3 G looks like a good replacement. Every specification is better than the original device except for a few unimportant ones. It's available ex-stock from Digikey for USD 2.67.

http://www.digikey.com/product-detail/en/IPP052NE7N3 G/IPP052NE7N3 G-ND/2270488

I suggest you get a few spares in case there's another fault on the board that blows up the replacement MOSFET.
