I need to buy a television, I like the picture and price of CRT.

However everyone is telling me CRT will be obsolete soon, with
manufacturers already coming out and saying they wont make them anymore.

What to do? Hmmmm.

**So far so good.

**Who cares? Manufacturers aren't going to build them anymore, because they
can't make good profits from them.
What to do? Hmmmm.

**You like the CRT? Buy it. Plasmas and LCDs are immensely profitable. CRTs
are not.

I agree, get the CRT if you like it. CRTs will be around for a few years
yet. Just because one or two manufacturers have stopped making them doesn't
make them obsolete.

My only advice if you're buying a CRT is to get a widescreen. Especially if
you have or get a digital STB, you'd only regret a 4:3 set if you bought
one.

** Hmmmm, "everyone" must be the dudes selling the vastly more expensive,
shorter lived and less bright alternatives.

with manufacturers already coming out and saying they wont make them
anymore.

** Colour CRTs are being made in the hundreds of millions - more than
any other large display by far.

What to do? Hmmmm.

** Buy a CRT TV - the choice is huge.

Plasma's are nice but they worry me with the dead pixel and burn in
problems.

Panasonic has just dropped the price of the LARGE 86cm digital CRT TV.

It was $6000 now you can probably buy it for less then $4000.

Bargain.

Well, buy one before they are obsolete!

Really, what are the choices:

Plasma -- not a very good technology.
Rear Projection -- not too bad, but picture quality, especialy viewing angle
is worse than CRT.
LCD: -- too pricy.

I would go for a CRT.
