Morning all,

Siemens used to make photo detectors for X, gamma and beta
rays/particles (I think).

What happened to them?

Something like Siemens became Infineon which then sold most of their
photo business to Osram and Vishay.

But I can find no sign of those photo detectors on any of their web
sites.

Does anybody know what happened to them?

OR

Who makes cheap X ray detector diodes(?) ?

Try power transistors, both Ge and Si to see which is best; make them
topless first, tho...

Did you check out Epcos?
The "Passive elements part" of Siemens turned to Epcos now.
I'm not sure whether these photo detectors are passive enough
for Epcos :), but perhaps you find these parts there.

Good luck!

Mario

Not truly cheap, but they have a lot of parts:
