i want to design a 0.5w audio amplifier i want to use a power supply of a single polarity +9V going thru a voltage regulator to get a 5V to power up the audio amplifier - TDA7052A

how do i get the power supply of a single polarity

I looked up the specification for the TDA7052A (you could have done this) and see that it will run with input voltages between 4.5V and 18V. It will therefore run on 9V. No regulator is needed, it will just waste power.

You can use a battery (PP3) or a plug-in power supply, 9V stabilised. The negative should be connected to the ground line and the positive to the IC supply pin. Some capacitors close to the IC to smooth the power may be necessary.
