I was looking at this driveway alert system that alerts you when
someone is coming up your long driveway. A co-worker has one, except
that he says he has to replace the batterys twice a year.

The 9volt would only need a tiny trickle of current to keep up. The
problem is getting nine volts with hardly any current. Can solar
cells andle this?

Has anyone done anything like this?

Thanks

Solar cells that are readily obtainable (from Radio Shack etc) produce
about 0.5V per cell. You can create a 9V supply from a series
combination of these or perhaps find a solar panel that will give more
voltage.
