Hey All,

I have a little unit that draws about 5mAh at 3.6V and I was thinking
about hooking up a small 3.6V battery via a solar panel to charge it
but I am having trouble finding any solar cells that are suitable.
Size is my main issue as I am looking for something to fit on top of a
match box or a whorst case 50 x 50mm. I don't think I will need any
more that 10mA closed circuit current, does anyopne know where I may
be able to find such a cell/panel??

Thanks in advance for any helpful replies!!

try here:

Then the solar panel option.
There are in the States but they will post to Aus.

If you have some spare silicon diodes, they will produce
about 0.3V at roughly 5mA or so in bright sunshine.
The diodes will need to be in a non-black package
to let the radiation in. (eg ceramic or painted-glass)

Also try some clear LEDs, the voltage is higher but the
current is usually less than a Si diode.

Either Jaycar or Oatley have a range of small solar panels, you might
find one to fit.
An alternative is to buy one or two of the many solar powered
calculators and rip them apart.
