Hello everyone,
I'm new to electronics and started to delve into the learning more about it.
I used to work on cars and got some equipment that needs repairs
Its a portable ignition system and the coil is not getting grounded.
I think I found the problem at a transistor it has power and signal but not grounding
The code printed on it is, $ in a circle right after there is a 34 and below that it says D835.
I cant figure out the replacement part for it.
Can I get help finding what would be a replacement part. Also where to purchase it?
Thanks everyone in advance.
Alex

Hello,

That could be the one.
On the transistors the 2S is often ommitted.

Thanks everyone. I'm off to look for it .
Just in case how or where do you look for a substitute part?

Thank you

I like mouser personally, many others like digikey. There are other places but I guess these are 2 of the most common.

Search for "transistor cross reference". You'll get many hits, e.g. this one.
Once you've located a possible replacement, check the datasheets. Not every component listed a cross reference may be suitable in reality.
Common parameters to look for are the max. ratings. If the replacement has higher ratings (e.g. higher VCE, higher gain etc.) chances are it is suitable. If any rating is lower, you'd have to double check this rating against the application, which is difficult if not impossible if you don't have at least a schematic, better yet an annotated schematic with measurements.
