This happened before and I tried a lens tray cleaner disc which didn't do much so I took it apart and swabbed the lens with alcohol which solved the problem. It's now reoccurred and that didn't help this time. It had been working fine although I hadn't used it for a couple weeks and when I tried to play a new Thunderball remaster I just bought it wouldn't read. Old or new discs, cdrs or factory recorded it seems random and about 50%. Thunderball and others play on a cheap Discman.
I also have a Sony RCDW3 player/recorder and it won't play on the player side but will on the recorder side. I had to clean the lenses and grease the trays and change the belts on that one, too. I really liked that 302 which was made in Japan. The RCDW3 was made in China and doesn't have the quality feel of the other.
