Threaded leads?

Do you mean radial leads?

Something that looks like this?

And you say it is only 0.5uF or 1 uF and 25V?

Very unlikely to be that sort of value and have other than wire leads. Can you show us a picture?

Is this vintage like this? And is it necessary to replace with the same thing vs say for example just soldering the lead of a normal cap to a brass or copper screw and hooking it up?

OK, that's 75V 1500uF -- a far cry from what you suggested.

But let's talk about this 12V battery eliminator. Why do you need something packaged like this?

The value you've suggested won't come in a package like that.

Thank You CocaCola for your reply sorry my last reply didnt address your input . The cap will be used as part of a battery eliminating device used on a motorcycle plenty of vibration to consider I dont think any componets hard wired would be suitable

There are spade terminals, and you can always solder on a connector of your choice... If you use an generic axial cap and heat shrink the cap to the connection wires as well as solder the connections I highly doubt you will have any issues with broken connections, a 1uf 25v cap is small and feather weight...

Steve I am not electronic savy enough to get to tech but I was given those values by a competent source (we didnt talk about type of package).I assumed one could get those values in that package In 1965 I repaired motorcycles and a British mc used a cap that looks just like the pic you posted it was hung from a spring to take up some of the vibration

I can't see why a spring or any support would be needed beyond the wires it's hooked to... I just weighted this 1µF 50v one @ 0.2 grams the wires it attaches to will have more weight, heat shrink it to them and it will be rock solid even under high vibration as it will move as a single unit with the wires...

It's not 1965 any more...

Are you trying to repair some vintage equipment? Or can modern components be used? If you have an old capacitor like this then you can rip its guts out and replace them with a modern equivalent and things will still look "genuine".

This would probably meet those specs.

If its used for filtering then it is almost certainly the wrong value.

I understand you have advice that this is the right value, but I'd hate to be criticised for not asking you the question.
