So i bought a oscillator with the plan of making a variable tone generator ... it is not as easy as i thought it would be with the parts i currently have... i have 10, 16mhz Crystal oscillators, 90 10k resistors, and 3 10k potentiometers. If any one has a scematic for such an oscillator please share it .

16MHz is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay above audio frequency.

You can't do it with the components you have.

Perhaps you can research the 555 oscillator chip. You may be able to use one or two of the components you already have.

The parts you will list can not be combined to produce an audio frequency oscillator. What is this for? What kind of oscillator do you want (sine wave, square wave, etc.)? What output voltage range? What power sources do you have available to run it?

Is this topic humorous in the way it was presented or is it just too much crappy weather by me that's had me spending far more time at my watering hole than I should? o_O

It is that humorous, everyone knows that it takes 100 10K resistors to make a variable tone generator.

Yeah Bob, it almost sounds like one of those class projects that the instructor assigns using limited and specified components. Except these components don't make any sense!
I think the 10 16MHz crystal oscillators trumps the 100 10K resistors though. An avid experimenter can logically eat up those resistors in a short time.
