Nothing quite that sinister.
Ebay marketplace vendor "ABC" sells a product. A few days after
receiving the product, consumer gets email from vendor "ABC" saying
"...have we got a idea for you." Methinks "SquareTrade" has a deal
with multiple marketplace vendors on ebay.
So ebay appears to be a spammer supporter. [unless you checked a little
'spam me for free' box when you joined ebay or when you bought from vendor
"ABC".{you should NOT have to UNCHECK any boxes, they should default to 'do
NOT spam me' and require an affirmative action on your part to check them}]
Permission to e-mail me is NOT transferable nor open ended.
If I give company ABC permission to mail me, it is limited to products that
THEY sell and that I have told them I am interested in hearing about.
If they ASSUME I want any email from them (or their 'associates'), other
than directly related to my particular order, that will be the LAST order
they ever get from me.
I use 'tagged' email addresses or use '
www.spammotel.org' to generate a
unique address so that I KNOW to whom the address was given.
If they missuse it, they 'abuse' my trust and I want nothing more to do
with them.
If we make clear to ALL vendors that we will act this way, they WILL get
the message and stop spamming.
