Not sure if this is the correct forum but.

I just bought a new soundbar, which utilises cec.

It’s annoying me that every time I switch on the tv, the soundbar wakes up, nd audio is routed via the soundbar.

I’ve messed about with all sorts of combinations and concluded that the only way I can get the soundbar to work to my satisfaction is to put it on a smart plug and switch it on via Alexa when I want it.

Now my concern is around longevity of components.

Is it better to leave it in standby 24/7 and put up with it coming on when I don’t want it to.
Or
Have it power on from scratch maybe twice per day.

Will powering on/ off at the mains, cause more component problems than it being in standby 24/7.

I’ve no concerns over energy saving if I’m being totally honest.

I prefer powering up when needed.
But there are all sorts of ways to do it. Smart plugs are one way as are switch boxes.
My pet hate is standby on absolutely everything these days.
They do waste power whatever the company says.
Powering down electronic units WILL allow it to cool and the temperature of the internal casing to cool too. That by itself can help electronic components last longer.
