I am currently working on a project that will give me complete control over my 3d printer from anywhere I have internet. I have all the programing complete, I just need to wire my SparkFun Photon RedBoard into the control board of my printer. There are handy solderable dots on it that would let me easily do what I want simply by connecting the printer's ground dot to the up/down/left/right/center dot. The idea is to connect the dots with transistors and plug the control wire into my Photon. Unfortunately, either my transistors are too sensitive or my printer uses an obscene amount of current to detect when buttons are pushed, such that firmly grasping the control wire of the properly connected transistor with my thumb and index finger closes the switch, and makes the printer think I'm pressing buttons. The residual current in the ports of my Photon is enough to do this as well. The transistors have been used before, and work perfectly to control motors and LEDs. I don't know how to solve this problem. All help and suggestions is appreciated. Thanks.
