A week-and-a-half ago I got it across my chest (front to back); 300J
worth. I don't remember a thing that happened for about 10min. ;-)

300J?? Holy shit! I used to accidentally get hit with 65mJ from the
CD ignition circuit I was designing... that would knock me off my lab
stool. It seems 300J ought to LAUNCH you ;-)

Good grief! Electric shock only gets the juices flowing. I got it
arm-to-arm one time when I was a kid... before GFCI's. A quick
thinking neighbor kicked my arm loose ;-)

When I was in my early teens, I lived at home and had a shop in the
corner of my basement. The main gas pipe just happen to run in through
there just over my head! I had a habit of hanging on that pipe with
one hand as I was operating away on TV sets. More of a leaning pipe :)

One day, my hand was poking around in the HV area(Live), I was aware
of being close and was trying be careful how ever, I over looked a live
connection and got a stream of steady HV through my right arm, through
the chest and up through the other arm to the pipe. If it wasn't for the
fact that gravity I was standing up and gravity was kicking in as I
started to drop, I don't think I would have been here today telling you
about it.

P.S.
I don't have any kids, at least none that I know of.:) Just my 2
step sons , they are enough. Maybe I did my self in ? :))

** Use a bloody scope - you ass.

Lord Above !

I said it was a quick check to prove the point. When I have the time to spare
I'm sure I will indeed examine it more closely.

** Go **** yourself - you narcissistic, ASD fucked IDIOT.

I said it was a quick check to prove the point.

** The ONLY point it proved, YET AGAIN,

is how totally ASININE Graham Stevenson is.

Yawn .......

When I have the time to spare
I'm sure I will indeed examine it more closely.

* * Meanwhile, being the utter, criminal **** that Stevenson is

the posturing, pommy ASS will waste everyone else's time.

**** OFF - TROLL

If there's one thing that has become some sort of reflex for me it's the
"one hand behind your back" thing.

You are lucky you still had a Dad.

Come to think of it, you described a 55V-0-55V system earlier, and a
tingling feeling that you knew well.

Do you have any kids?

None that I lay claim on ;).
A lifestyle choice though. Had a super childhood and marvellous parents but
never fancied doing the 'dad' and 'family' bit.
Spent the early part of my life looking for that rare thing, a smart and
wealthy woman. Never happened.
Time rolls on and I've still no interest in the wife and sharing bit but
finding there's more and more women out there all too keen to do exactly
that. Can be a bit of a stand-off in social situations as I'll be ticking
the boxes marked "shaggability, money and smarts" and they'll be ticking
only the boxes marked "money, health and stability".
It's so obvious, I'm now thinking engineering types must exude some kind of
'rock solid stability' pheromone that unattached women >40 years seem to
pick up on. (or maybe they're just good at spotting the solvency bit ;)

It's the money. They're attracted to it like flies to shit.

Which only makes sense, in evolutionary terms - if you're going to be tied
down to a screaming poop machine for the next 18 years of your life, it's
a good idea to see to it that you and it have a reasonable expectation of
being fed. :)

Cheers!

I think that's what the cardiologist said as I was coming to. I'll
have to ask him when I see him in a few weeks. The number seems in
line, though on the high side, with some of the web sites. It only
took one zap (thankfully, only a couple of small burns).

Any thoughts (aside from having it checked). I noticed there was a recall on
these for an earth problem but I can't see how it relates to what we're seeing
here.

I have a TDS210 that I bought in 1998 at the Dayton Hamfest. The seller told
me that he bought it for RF circuit troubleshooting... but at 60 MHz, the
scope could not fill this role too well. I gave him $775 and my business
card. Not a bad deal for a shiny new, barely used scope!

To my amazement, two years later, he forwarded to me a prepaid airbill that
was sent to him from TekTronix with a letter describing the grounding recall.
I was amazed that this guy kept my card, remembered who I was, and was
generous enough to go through the trouble of sending me the Tektronix airbill.
My scope got repaired for free under the recall, and was shipped back to me in
less than a week. My TDS210 has been working prefectly ever since.

There are some truly nice folks in this world!

Take care,
-Chris

I'm sure that does indeed work but there's more going on.

True. There normally is in any gear with an SMPS.

But if the chassis is bonded to ground...... !! ??

Graham
We had problems with the ground connections on the mains cables
at the inlet connection (old cables, weakened springs on the ground
contacts).
This is a fundamental flaw with the IEC receptacle/cable interface.
We now have all mains cables tested and tagged with the year of the test.
Everything gets retested on a 3-year cycle, and faulty or marginal
cables discarded.

Even at my advanced ugliness I often receive smiles from 50-70 old
ladies who are obviously widows and looking for a "return match"...
particularly in airports ;-)

Feel free to post pictures of your more youthful days to show us what a
handsome dog you were. :)
