I received a museum-quality 535A with a Type L plug in. I have not worked on this old a scope before and was wondering about bringing it up on an iso transformer, current-limiter, and variable transformer as with old radios. Any pitfalls, potential CRT problems, etc?
Thanks.20220810_124239.jpg

What a beautiful piece of equipment.
If it was mine, I’d carefully open it and have a good visual inspection first. See if any untoward bodges or obvious faults may cause more problems when powered on. Then slowly bring it up on the islolated variac via your current limiter.
Also maybe change the plug too.

Yes, I plan to do my usual visual and smell tests first. Thank you for your reply and compliment. Usually, when someone says it's in mint condition I'm dubious. You can imagine my surprise when this appeared. Why change the plug, it's a heavy three prong plug?

You are obviously more experienced than myself and have probably opened more cans of worms plus rabbit holes. But that looks pristine. I am a fan of a YouTuber called Mr Carlson’s lab. I would advise professionals and beginners to watch his videos.
Please keep us posted on the scope updates. I am especially interested.
