We own a philips magnavox tr2503 c121 television. It was in a common
room used by the public. All of a sudden it started turning on and off
spontaneously.

We assumed that someone had programmed it the sleep mode.
Eventually, it stopped turning on altogether. The remote has since
disappeared.

Can anyone tell us how to get it to turn on again. I cannot find a
remote to match it. Can anyone help in that area either?

Anything you can do would be greatly appreciated.

hit the channel button, many TVs will wake up for that. OTOH your TV could
be faulty.

We have a similar Philips TV, 32 inch, about 5 years old.
Our problem - turns off for a few seconds, then back on, repeat for a few
minutes... then usuallyOK fora couple of hours.
Called local repair guy - he said Philips had a bad batch of tubes (his
theory) and had seen several like ours. Apparently the Blue Gun flashes
over (?) causing power supply to reset the TV. Fix is new tube, but they
are too expensive/rare to make it a cost-effective repair. Suggested new
TV, recommended Samsung.
my 2p... hth
