The Absolute Beginner, With A Whole Bunch Of Thank Yous

Hey, everybody!

It seems like bad netiquette to thank each individual thread, plus I worry
that I'll miss someone. So I wanted to give a general thanks to everyone
that responded to my questions.

All the viewpoints are a huge help. I learn a little bit differently from
other people. I have to grasp things on an intuitive level. When I was
learning to program my computer, I would take a piece of code that worked,
change something, and then just stare and examine it to understand why it
did or did not work. (I noticed I'm doing the same thing with the
electronics kit. Connect the wires and study study study.) The
description of how exactly a transistor works was especially helpful.

So it seems like (for the electrical flow), unless I'm designing the Next!
Generation! CPU (hey, you gotta dream big, right?), I can just stick with
the long time assumption.

So thank you, everybody, for being so helpful and especially friendly to a
newbie. I'll probably be poking my head in after a few more projects. In
fact, I can almost guarantee it.

Sincerely,
Pete Holland Jr.

Yep, experimenting and troubleshooting is the best way to learn.
You don't learn much by just connecting the wires and having something
work first go.
Here's hoping your projects *don't* work first go! :->

Frankly, this kind of post is a lot of the reason us old farts hang out
here, desperately seeking newbies to help out. ;-P

Cheers!
