I found a problem with my recently purchased (just under a year old)
32" Toshiba 32A42 television. When I remove tight fitting RCA cables
from the rear panel of the television, part of the RCA jack
sometimes comes off with the cable!

It appears that the rear panel RCA jacks are built such that the RCA
jack shell (the shiny chrome-looking part of the RCA jack) is a separate
piece of each jack. These jack shells appear to be held in place by the
friction of two toothed tabs that protrude from the shell through the
rear panel.

I've "reinstalled" the RCA jack shells and have "loosened-up" my
cables in hopes of reducing future occurrences of this problem. However,
I've bent some of the jack shells up a bit in an attempt to reinstall
them.

Does anybody out there know where I can find replacement RCA jack
shells for the Toshiba? It seems to me that I can't be the only person
having problems with these jacks "falling apart"!

Thanks, Michael J. Linden

I see this all the time. The RCA jacks are garbage. I assume that Toshiba has
or will soon release an improved jack or assy for these models.

If you get in touch with Toshiba, they can give you the lead to their parts
department. From there, you can order a new assembly. If you are not used
to TV servicing, you will have to have this part changed for you. In most
sets, these connectors come on an assembly.

You have to be careful, that the plugs are not too tight when inserted on to
these jacks. They are a bit fragile.
