Hi,

I have had a look on the web and can't quite find what I want.

1. A simple explanation as to how a transistor works.

2. How transistors work in computer memory, BIOS, and processors.

3. The importance of transistors in computers.

If you have come across some easily understandable sites, pleas post the URL's.

Thanks

S

There isn't one. ;-)

As Switches.

Your teacher wants you to figure this one out on your own.

Your assumption is wrong.

I am not a student

Sounds like you're trying to write an article. Have you tried doing
research?

I am not.

Of course I have done research. I am looking for advice

1. A simple explanation as to how a transistor works.

Applying a voltage between the base and emitter inject charge carriers
into the base, where upon they are swept up into the collector due to
the high accelerating voltage at the base collector.
2. How transistors work in computer memory, BIOS, and processors.

The same as they do in op-amps.
3. The importance of transistors in computers.

Ho.. hummm. they make them work.

Hi species,

Probably the best thing is to learn how semiconductors work, here is a link
to a page:
