Im trying to make something with a Triac 2N6343A T0-220

See Schematic at http://www.uoguelph.ca/~antoon/gadgets/relays/relays.html
Look for Solid State Relay
I can only poorly reproduce it in text.
The shematic shows something like this
| (x)
|
------
/\\/
------
/ |
/ | (y)
/ (z)

1. My question is now do I orient the Triac. eg Which is BCE in relation to
my xyz.
2. Are most all To-220 B-C-E and Based on this diagram

Right of course. I was getting confused because some sites list the TO-220
Package as a triac and then go on to talk about some transistors (I suppose)
that com in TO-220 package with BCE pins. They dont clearly show the
difference.

So, then is this true .. After studying your pdf.
The (z) (my diagram below) is the Gate which on a Triac TO220 my part I have
listed, is the 3erd pin looking at the front the. The other pins it doesnt
matter how you orient them on the circuit.

I've moved your reply to the bottom, just a convention here.
Please don't top post.

Looking at the front of the TO-220 package, it pins out like this:
_____
| |
| O |
|_____|
| |
| |
|_____|
| | |
| | |
M M G
T T
1 2

On your drawing, X corresponds to MT2, Y corresponds to MT1, and Z
corresponds to the Gate.

For MT1 and MT2, it matters very much which is which from the point of
view of triggering the TRIAC, and if you go to page 25 (E1-5) of the
PDF you'll see what I mean. Also read the application notes for some
typical circuits that work.

Thanks that clears up my confusion.
