Trouble beep on 1555 keypad

Anyone seen this ? During another of my endless ADT takeovers, I entered
programming mode, software defaulted and reprogrammed the panel as per
normal. However, once back in service, the panel will show troubles
properly, but it will not beep along with the normal trouble light
indication. The correct software switch is off in software. The chimes work
OK, so the keypad is not in mute mode.

I hope I don't have to do the usual "power down and back up"(when you don't
know what else is the problem with DSC) to bring back the trouble beep.

Any ideas?

Not seen that before and ADT's 1555's are mostly standard DSC stuff so I
should think they didn't add something

No Mark, it certainly programs normally. I haven't had a chance to call DSC
tech support about this, but I suspect its another of those mysterious
ailments that crop up from time to time with DSC equipment that can only be
solved by that one solution that you have to fall back on when nothing else
works...."power down and power up again"..

Frankly, the more I use the new Paradox lines of equipment, the less I use
the DSC lines. But then, that's just my take on things; I have absolutely no
tolerance for equipment that's "buggy"....

You mean like the bug in v4.2 receivers that will suddenly generate false
keyfob low batteries which require the replacement of both the receiver AND
the panel? I've run into 3 so far, nothing is worse than telling a tech most
of his equipment is bad.

Yes, like that one ! Or the bug in the wireless 5132 wireless receiver that
causes it to intermittently lose supervision of wireless components on the
system and can set off an alarm, plus a tamper to the station (which some
stations dispatch on.....). Its just these kind of "dodgy" situations which
has caused me to abandon DSC wireless for the far more stable and (so far)
reliable Paradox wireless.

It's also a pretty bad situation trying to get replacement 900 Mhz wireless
components for existing systems in the field. IMO, DSC really blew it on
that one. It's reached the point where I've had to replace a couple of 900
mhz systems simply to get the wireless parts to service other customers...
