Hi,

I cant find a circuit for the ranges i want in a sonar project.

I want to be able to read very rough distances between about 1/2 meter
to 10 meters, within about a half-foot accuracy is fine.
The simplest circuit would be best.

anyone know a simple example around the place somewhere ?

I have some examples, but they are all less than 1 metre range.

Alex.

Perhaps, a Laser detector? Power Suply, triger, receiver with JFET amplifier
and monostable. And small circuit with slope capacitor charging and AD
converter to read the voltage level upon reception of the echo. All driven
by the MCU.

Nah laser is not suitable. It wont reflect well of all surfaces (or
glass) and in this usage, it will be a danger for peoples eyes.
