need some help - have a long driveway & a couple of spare chamberlin infared sensors that are extra (go at the bottom of the door to make it go back up if you interupt the beam). I would like to use these at the tip of my driveway. can anyone tell me how to contruct a system using these? what voltage do they take? how do I hook them up to what type of chime or indicator in the house that i can find at radio shack or somewhere? a useful note is the tip of my driveway - where my posts are (for mounting these) is 2 acres away. thanks

How do the devices work? Most trip devices will either start producing a voltage or stop producing one when the device is tripped. Knowing this will help you make the rest of the circuit.

The other question to answer is do you want to run wire over the ~400ft or do you want it to be a remote/wireless setup. Wireless will add a serious amount of complexity to the design.
