Hi,

I am a little confused with a varistor replacement part so i need your help.

I have fault varistor component "DNR 7D151". It was part of a 220V Led Lamp. Anyway, I want to replace it with 14D151 or similar part to add more endurance in time.

The datasheet for both parts as you can see in the image below says Varistor Voltage 150V. So,

A) How a part that is connected to a 230V outlet can have normal voltage 150V ? As you can see they note 1mA which means what ? What are Max allowable voltages ?

B) Will the 14D151K replacement part more effective & endurable in time ?

As I read the most important parameters for a varistor are A) Max Clamping Voltage, B) Rated Power and C) Response Time (which is not mentioned somewhere in the datasheet)

I suspect the part of the circuit that the VDR is connected to does not normally see 230vac!

Hi,

I was pretty sure that is 230VAC but I will check it out once again !.

Despite of that, the replacement part 14D151 will add some benefits in this case or it simply it will not work at all ?

Hi

I can confirm that the led spot is 230v AC and it seems that the mov does not connect directly to the 230v .... Strange ?

The problem many times with these devices when they are tucked away, they can operate on a surge but get destroyed in the process, unbeknownst, but the equipment can still function,
I would think the new selection would give you slightly more reliable protection.
