Hello. All good with you ? Thanks for reading my topic.
I have novice eletronic knowledge.
I have an damaged video card model EVGA GT 640.
That video card was analyzed only one component is damaged. Not damages in vcore area.
That component is melted being hard to identify. Have 6 pins ( 3 in each side ).
In image the component is between red lines.

That component is the SOT-363 , SOT-363-3 or SOT-363-6 ? both are similar ?
I see another detail about SOT being polarity ... that SOT is NPN , N-channel or P-channel ?
SOT-363 , SOT-363-3 or SOT-363-6 are only NPN ?

Thanks for reading.
Have an nice week.

HOW was it analysed? It's unusual for only one part to go dud. If the 'analysis' was simply seeing the part was damaged this isn't a good enough reason to suspect ONLY that part as the faulty one.

SOT-363 is the component package SHAPE and not an actual part number - which is normally 'coded' onto it in some numerical/alpha way that you don't specify.

If you got to that device as being the 'dud' part, did you do so using a schematic and if you did what does the schematic say about the actual part? Can you post the schematic?

"HOW was it analysed?"

My friend is professional ... not any short circuit in vcore and others areas in video card.
The only problem was one component melted.
An fan wire had touched in that component thus damaging and melting.
I not understand exactly , but is as if that component control the fan voltage or protection circuit.

"SOT-363 is the component package SHAPE and not an actual part number"
The only naming I need to identify if is an NPN , N-channel or PNP ? SOT-363 , SOT-363-3 or SOT-363-6 ?
That type of component SOT-363 need values about voltage , current and etc ?
I seeking SOT-363 has some variations in voltage.
Not any schematic about that video card.

The only problem was one component melted.
Components that 'melt' rarely do so without causing other issues elsewhere. Regardless, unless you can identify the component part number you will have to 'guess' what it is. Your 'professional' should be able to do that for you - ask them.

There are literally HUNDREDS of components in the SOT-363 package and only a few of which might work in the application.

I have used an cell phone camera to read that component and was possible read the naming.
That component have the naming K6N27 and have 6 pins.
However I not see any component to buy using internet search using the naming K6N27.

Thanks very much for any help.

The only 'K6N...' device in an SOT-363 package I can find is:

Hello.
Thanks for reading my topic.

I am an novice about eletronics.
I have an damaged video card ... that video card was analyzed by an eletronic professional .. only one component was damaged.
Is an little component named K6N27 having 6 pins ( 3 in each side ).

Doing an search in sites with datasheets was showed that K6N27 is an SOT-363.

Reading some manufacturers datasheets begin the doubts because different informations.
In datasheets have the informations :

MMDT3904
MMDT3904-7-F
SOT-363

Collector-Base Voltage 60 V
Collector-Emitter Voltage 40 V
Emitter-Base Voltage 6 V
94 V in an pdf and 40 V in another pdf.

Being an video card the voltage is from mainboard ...less of 12 volts ?
In datasheets that component K6N27 is 40 and 90 volts.

Well ... my questions are :

- MMDT3904 e MMDT3904-7-F are exactly the same name for that component K6N27 ? both are compatible ?
- SOT-363 , SOT-363-3 e SOT-363-6 are the same type of component ?
- K6N27 is an NPN , N-channel or P-channel ?
- However the datasheets details are 40 and 94 volts and others high voltages (Collector-Base Voltage 60 V , Collector-Emitter Voltage 40 V and Emitter-Base Voltage 6 V) . Not are exactly used the high voltages values ? Is as being maximum voltage output ?

In some forums have replies saying that component is an transistor double N and is generic.

Thanks for your reply.
Have an nice day.

Besides this being a double post (you ask this on another thread) the values stated on datasheets are often the MAXIMUM values the components can be subject to - not the voltages they 'produce'.

After a quick look at the datasheet I'd say yes.
- SOT-363 , SOT-363-3 e SOT-363-6 are the same type of component ?
As has been stated before, these are not component types but case types. You'll find many different components in this case.
- K6N27 is an NPN , N-channel or P-channel ?
Acc. to the datasheet it is a dual NPN.

The EVGA GT 640 graphics card is based on the Nvidia GK107 graphics processing unit (GPU). The SOT-363 package is not typically used for GPUs, but rather for small signal transistors and diodes.

Based on my research, the surface-mount components used on the EVGA GT 640 graphics card include the GPU itself (in a BGA package), various capacitors and resistors, a PCIe interface chip, and several power management chips, but I could not find any information about a specific component marked as SOT-363.

It's important to note that electronic components can vary between different versions of a product or different manufacturing runs, so if you have a specific EVGA GT 640 graphics card and are curious about the components it uses, I recommend checking the card's documentation or contacting EVGA directly for more information.

I had contacted EVGA suport. The reply not was possible share the video card schematics.
The video card GT 640 in image below
between the red lines is the damaged component.
Using an cell camera zoom was possible read the naming code K6N27.
Thus searching the K6N27 datasheet details is an SOT-363.

Now I see the solution is buy an MMDT3904.

Really the component is the MMDT3904.
Removed the damaged component and replaced with MMDT3904.
Now Video card power on.
Need tests power on for long time and 100 % for confirm if is having correct voltage and amperage in vcore.

Thanks very much for all users replying in my topic.
Have an nice week.
