Removed the associated phone-line. How do I permeably silence this message?

When you say you "Removed the associated phone-line." I hope you mean you unplugged the RJ-31X jack, rather than disconnecting actual wires at the control (which would disable all landline phone lines in the house, assuming it was installed properly.) Did you have any reason to think the phone line was the Trouble source?

I never had much to do with Visonic controls, but IINM, there were several Versions of the PowerMax Control Panel. I pulled up one Installation and one User Manual, and it looks like there's instruction on how to use the keypad to find what kind of trouble the Control Panel is annunciating---but I don't know if the manuals I looked at were for your particular model/version Panel. See if you can find more specific nomenclature on your Panel or its cabinet. Do you have at least a User's Manual to find a more specific trouble? Does the keypad actually display "Check System For Troubles", or does it display a more specific message?

Got this solution from another user:

you need to disable line fail reporting

installer mode -> define comm -> c.s. reporting -> line fail report -> pstn-> don't report

press ok to 'don't report' and press ok again to confirm the selection

Glad you got a solution; hope it works. I held off reading through an Installation manual until I know what model panel you have.

The "Fail to Communicate" Trouble was my first _guess_, but I didn't want to say it was the trouble without more info. I worked with _most_ of the major brand names for 40+ years, but the Visonic PowerMax wasn't that popular in this part of North America, so although I've worked with Visonic peripherals (PIR motion sensors and 3rd party wireless add-ons, etc), I haven't worked with the PowerMax panel itself.

If I were there at your premises, I wouldn't have any qualms about finding a manual and troubleshooting the problem; but troubleshooting over the 'Net like this, I like to be sure of what I'm working with, exactly what the symptoms are, and what the manual for that particular panel says. Some brands change their programming protocol for every different model (Honeywell/Ademco being one of the few exceptions), so I'm reluctant to address programming issues without a model nomenclature and specific symptom(s).

Please let us know if your solution works out for you.
