Ok i agree... the no load off resistance is 2.74k when I check it with my meter. Maybe I needed glasses back them or something!!!

The do nothing app goes on the end of the daisy chain, just like a terminator to earth. If its not there, the ground for the PSU circuit receives all the ohms the circuit produces. In this case, about 3m ohms, without a current draw of 9.6vdc in the load. (assuming the 9.6vdc requires the 3m ohms, which it does). When the psu is designed to produce 2a and your load is less than what your PSU puts out, there shouldn't be any problems, but if the load is not there, I would think the PSU would require at least a similar impedance at ground, and if the impedance is over 3m at the ground (which it is without the load) the PSU is really going to be taxed trying to pump the excess 2.4vdc across 3m of resistance! Thats why I liked the shunt idea!

The thing that really needs said here is that when the power goes into a device it changes polarity. What you have is -12.21vdc, +11.42vdc, -10.42vdc, then +9.6vdc, then 2.74k negative ground.

So here is the block diagram that I am planning... I don't remember my schottkey requirements. I was studying materials at the time and I was at super conductors, when they threw in the idea that "anything that will work is ok"! My circuit, with a 4.571428k requirement, I was sure a 5k would work, but my experience tells me the professor said "this isn't rocket science" and I had already figured out the rocket science part, the ideal Schottkey was as large as the combined power handling capability of the circuit I think... but what worked was much less... I can't remember the formula.

I am considering this diode for circuit protection. It is fairly large, but I think my power supply and device requirements might cook and eat milliamp diodes. Maybe I am barking up the wrong tree, and I should wrap some ferrite or air in a secondary transformer coil... they have wire of the correct size just for that.. Taito 1N5820 is 20v 3a, Please explain these numbers >>> DO201AD

Hello,

The DO-201AD is the name of the package of the diode.
It describes the dimensions of the diode.

See the datasheet for more info.

I have a VHS camera that requires a 9.6v 1.2amp (1200ma?) Negative ring psu wall wart. I don't find a 9.6 with 1.2 among my collection, only a 12v 2.0. can I covert this to 9.6 with an inline resistance?
Buy the right adapter. Most things you touch (going by previous examples) turn to sh*t which, whilst your inevitable financial loss doesn't really bother me, your grasp of electrics/electronics is so irredeemably lacking that you do yourself no favours and tend to waste a lot of our time by refusing valuable and considered advice.

Heres the lesson... mt repair failed... I think the camera requires the battery, and this port is only a charging port !!!

So much for the ingenuity of the beginning electronics aficionado... :( spell check ok... next project :)

Note to self... please don't waste the electronics genius' time with failing ideas and easy projects with simple solutions...
sorry for the space waste... WEBMASTER... please delete all this thread..
