Folks,

I'm having problems finding an australian supplier of fine (24 - 30 AWG)
wire with teflon insulation.
Doe anyone know a source in Oz?

The application is for single runs inside a casing which will need to be
heated to 250 deg celcius as part of construction.

Thanks,
Des Bromilow

** High temp rated ( 220 C) enamel coated wire ( transformer winding wire)
will stand 250 C for considerable periods.

Contact a transformer or motor rewinder - they will have stock of 24
G high temp wire.

Most thermocouple manufacturers can supply ptfe or pfa insulated
copper wire as the positive leg of type T. We also manufacture
insulated nickel plated copper wire for RTDs but the construction may
not match your needs. You can contact our local office below.

Also Pelican Wire in Florida, USA manufactures a lot of insulated fine
gauge wire but I don't know if they sell in Oz. You could try Omega
also.

apparently it's Kynar (good to 125 deg celcius only)

I had looked at that though.

The application is that the wires need to be incorporated inside a lead
light window panel, and need to survive the soldering processes.

Thanks

Farnell has a range of PTFE-insulated wire - 18 to 28 AWG.

I have 0.5mm diameter (~24AWG) teflon insulated wire in red, yellow
and blue. How much do you need?

Try RS Components. I recently bought some high temp cable with a very thin
insulation thickness. It's mil-spec, MIL-W-16878E Type E. Rated to 600
volts, -60 degC to +200 deg C with a flame test rating to UL VW-1.

RS part No: 177-0615 White @ 30AWG, 177-0952 White @ 24AWG Page 15 in
current catalogue.
White, Balck,Red, Green, Yellow, Blue, Brown, Orange, Grey & Violet
available at less than $1.00 per metre.

RS & / or Farnell used to sell single core /single conductor wire -
Tefzel. RS used to also sell teflon sheathed multistrand single
conductor wire.

The teflon can be a pain to strip sometimes.

I'm not sure but 250°C may be too hot for Teflon. What about
fibreglass sheathed wire?
