I wish to buy a pair from eBay: what is this gadget called, I can't find it anywhere? Is it a wire/cable grip/clasp/claw? In the photo attached, I show it with the "grip" withdrawn, and with the "grip" open.

Hi Bob,
They are just claw test probes or grips. Different companies have different names. Test clip probes.

They are called "Grabber Test Clips"
.
What are you going to hook them to?
they come in various sizes from MAXI to MICRO.

A word of caution:
You may buy cheap stuff from Ebay , mostly very poor quality(got for hobbyists) .

If you need professional/reliable test clips get them from POMONA .

Fluke call them Pincer probes but are usually very $$ when purchasing from meter suppliers.
