When did the format change?

I was just getting used to the old format (after 5 years). When did the
new look happen? Lenny Stein, Barlen Electronics.

I think he's reading on Google -- they seem to have made some changes
(not for the better, either, IMHO).

And Google is now a main source of spam and they refuse to do anything about
it.

a) Sign up for a free account with http://news.individual.net - highly
recommended (no connection with them; I've just been using them for the
last few months and had zero problems with service quality so far)

b) It's only the US version of Google that seems to have moved over
to the new (useless) look - if you go via any of the other countries'
interfaces then the new look is still in beta (thankfully) and the more
functional look is the default. Not sure how long it'll be before they all
change, though.

cheers

Jules,
I second your recommendation of http://news.individual.net I have been using
them for a few years. They keep posts longer, and post new messages faster
than my pay service.

For those still using Google, should move to a real news server.

Accounts can (or could) be get for free at http://news.individual.net ,
ask for one.

Then you can use any newsreader like Thunderbird, Agent, Gravity, if on
Linux Mozilla, Pan or Knode can be used.

But Google's spammers post to all servers!
