Hey all,

I need some help finding out where I can get some relevant data from a datasheet - I'm working on a LCD controller using an FPGA for my website and can't seem to find these parameters for the LCD I want to use:

  1. Vertical Blanking Lines and Horizontal Blanking Pixels
  2. Vertical/Horizontal Front Porch Pixels/Lines
  3. Vertical/Horizontal Sync Pixels
  4. Total Vertical/Horizontal Scan Pixels/Lines

Basically, I'm not familiar with what these actually are in LCD driving and the datasheet doesn't use those terms verbatim. I'm using a Sharp LQ9D011 display. If anyone can both (or either) explain to me what those terms refer to and what they are on the datasheet, major props to you. I have a vague idea of front porch signals from NTSC broadcasting standards, but the other stuff might as well be Greek at this point.

The datasheet can be found here.

Thanks, everyone.

These parameters look like suitable for a CRT monitor, but not for an LCD.
Since there is no scanning electron beam, there is no need for any blanking.

The Timing of this Sharp LCd is shown on page 7 of the datasheet.
After start of vertical sync (VS) you wait Tvs, then send valid data. All timings are given in absolute time, not in pixels. You can, if you need to, convert the times in pixels using the pixel clock timing, but I see no use in this exercise.
