Hi,

I have a lapel microphone that has a 4 pin male 3.5mm jack on it and I want to use it with a car stereo that has a female 2 pin 3.5mm.

So the adapter would need to be 4 pin female to 2 pin male.

I've searched for an adapter online but it is difficult to search for this type of thing...many false hits. Cannot find one.

Anyone know where to get this?

Thanks

Or since I have a 4-3 pin adapter, I could use an adapter that is 3 pin female to 2 pin male. But would rather not have to use 2 adapters.

What are the four connections on the mic?

A 4 pins 3.5mm plug has mic, left earphone, right earphone and ground. Instead of trying each pin to see which one is mic then I would cut off the 4 pins plug and replace it with a 2 pins plug.

The mic is probably an electret type (not a dynamic type) and the car stereo is probably expecting an electret mic.

The car stereo is probably expecting a line level input. Unless the input is labeled "microphone" a preamp that supplies power to the microphone will be required; not just some connector change.
