Hello,

Apologies for the poorly descriptive thread title...I can't seem to modify it now...

This is remarkably beginner-stuff, but:

I am trying to wire a simple LED lighted rocker switch in a 12v circuit.
I wired it what I thought was properly...but obviously it isn't.

The switch turns on and off just fine, but it seems no matter what combination of terminals i try...the light will not light.
The light does work fine when i test it...but not when i put it in circuit.
Apparently, the remaining terminal on switch is supposed to go to ground?

But how do you ground something with only two wires from the battery?
I mean, I thought the negative was the ground, and the positive was hot....?
I'm sorry to be so dense.

Below is a childlike drawing of the circuit....lol.

Thank you for any help!

Thanks for the reply.

Unless adding the indicator light to the accessory tab helped...I don't see how mine is any different... :/

I think I may have the cig-lighter end wired backwards.
According to the vid, the tip is negative, and i thought it was pos.
Will reverse and report back...

Sir Roadcase . . . . .

This one's gotta work for you, as it additionally explains the hidden electro-mechanics within the switch.
Rocking the switch on gives power to your controller as well as power to the series current limiting resistor and the LED and then they complete their power loop to ground.
Rock the switch off and power is lost to both.

Good video @Alec_t , but how the hell does that woman work with those nails! I am sure you all have worked with your nails slightly longer than usual and if you are anything like me, you end up slicing yourself pretty good when doing close up work like that... wow.

Switch needs to be in the positive line from the centre tip of cig plug.
