Yesterday I received 78 individual emails from "netadmin", "microsoft",
"mailadmin", etc. I've deactivated the [email protected] email since I was only
using it for the newsgroups I participate in. If you want a valid email,
I'll provide a spamproof link shortly.

Frank, just a suggestion, but today there are two pieces of software that
are an absolutely vital part of every computer....anti-virus software and
anti-spam software. I can't say for sure, but if you had up to date
versions of both on your computer, you likely wouldn't see most of that
garbage. And if you did, you could eliminate future crap from such sites....

Works for me ! I use both Norton Anti Virus and PCCillin 2000, and Ihatespam
on all my various computers. Also keeps off Wireless Willy's RFI nonsense...

I use McAfee for several reasons I won't go into here (it'll sound too much
like a "promo"). Since I stopped the http://www.alt-security-alarms.com
website, I haven't received a single "Nigerian letter". As for the
"anti-spam" software... I've been seriously looking at upgrading my news
reader... Any good suggestions??

PS... RFI Paul isn't as irritating as you might think... His emails
stopped arriving some time ago. I used a spam blocker available through my
ISP that killed that aspect of his attack... As for the posts in the
group... I figure most here realize that he knows next to nothing about
professional grade systems having never seen (or worked with) any...

When I first got on line and in this group, I'd had my address for a year or so
with no unusual amounts of spam. Once I came to this group, the spam and
viruses and garbage just reached the point of being ridiculous. I changed my
name in the group and the garbage slowed and then got right back up to being
intolerable. Once Paul started his constant change of address to send his
garbage. I changed my address in the group and blocked all e-mail to it. Now I
have an address for only the people I want to have it. I get one or two
unwanted E-mails a week on that address even though I don't have any filters or
blocks, on it. I can temporarily open a new or one of the old addresses for
e-mailing in this group ...should I need to communicate with someone.

Conclusion .......... it's definately due to my participation in this group and
likely due to someone here who would have a reputation of sending mail bombs
and trying to go real life with people that disagree with him.

I'm still looking for the "smoking slingshot"... As far as I know the
"glove" might be the right size, but then size "small" fits a lot of trolls
(OJ excluded of course)...

I have had the same email address since 1994. I also got my share of email
spam & viruses, once I placed PcCillin 2003 & a spam blocker in, that took
care of 90 percent of the trash.

My mail server tells me I get an average of 300+ virsuses & spam mail each
day. Out of that, maybe 40 make it though, just be be deleted by my desktop
software. So go ahead Paul, give it your best shot... :)

actually Piccillin and Nortons do not stop the email coming in, just
stops the attachements from opening if you have email protection
enabled.

I still get a hundred or so a day, plus numerous other spam, which i
filter out though filters never work 100%, as either it doesnt catch
it or it deletes useful email occasionally. There really is no way
around it besides switching email addresses.

I have always used the same real name and e mail address on the internet
from day one. While I realize this leaves me exposed to all the scummy types
who harvest e mail addresses for spamming purposes, I do find the spam
filters work quite well. I check things over to make sure that no legitimate
e mails are being filtered out, but generally it works quite well. And I'm
not being bombarded with huge amounts of spam either, much to my surprise.

I refuse to change my e mail address just because the internet scumbags of
the world will take advantage of it. But something is going to have to be
done about this growing problem if e mail is to remain a useful vehicle. I
am lead to believe that most of the spam is generated by a relartively small
number of low life companies. To bad there wasn't some way to mail bomb
these types with their own garbage..

Hmm...now there's something that Paul could do that would be genuinely
useful.....:)))

There must be a lot of total fucking morons out there who actually respond
to the crap or it wouldn't be so popular. That is what I find so truly
maddenning.

I just received a call from my father. He complained that all of a sudden
he started receiving all kinds of Spam similar to what was described here.
He also mentioned that he saw some familiar addresses and they apparently
came from me. My Norton Anti-virus did not indicate any virus on my
machine. I also checked with AVG another anti virus detector, I found
nothing. A quick trip to Symantec, they gave me a tool to check for
W32.Klez.H@mm and Bingo, I was infected after all.

Everyone please check for this virus on their machines. As I indicated, my
Norton and AVG both missed it. The link to the tool that I used to remove
the worm is as follows:

Cheers

Yep but they get my email from my web page, and it is on google and
othere search engines as well as a ton of other sites linked to my web
site/s. So im going to get more than usual. I had to give up my last
email I had for 2 years because of this. Not going to do so this time,
will rather loose some email first. I get a load of spam, but lately
its been the worm emails travelling around, nothing I can do but try
to filter them out. I format my hard drive to much to keep any
permanent filters though.

Where did I "imply" that, Robert?? Please post the reference. You don't
seem to get it do you?? You repeatedly "attack" people by "implying" they
said something they didn't. You whine about the fact that no-one seems to
want to follow the FAQ and here you are keeping the "flames" burning...

Can you say "duplicitous"?? "Hypocritical"??

Get a life!!
