Does anyone have a Fujitsu MPG3204AT HD (20GB) with a good control
board that they would like to sell?

Thanks. I suspect your HD may have the same problem. I'd still be
willing to try it, though.

However, before you give it away, you may wish to try this recovery
tool:
http://stephan.win31.de/rare/Fujitsu-RecoveryToolV202A.zip

These drives also had UDMA and "drive not ready" issues that were
addressed by a firmware upgrade:
http://www.fcpa.com/support/hard-drives/software_utilities.html

These issues aside, Fujitsu settled a class action suit regarding
premature failures in this model and one other. Here are some URLs I
found interesting:

http://64.233.187.104/search?q=cach.../content/topic/2190/+mpg3204at+firmware&hl=en
http://www.sheller.com/SubPage.asp?SubPageID=87

http://www.fcpa.fujitsu.com/products/hard-drives/hd-public-statment.html
http://www.hddclassactionsettlement.com/

Fujitsu is quoted as stating that ...

"Fujitsu has received a number of claims regarding some of these
drives [MPG Series and MPF-AH Series], which we believe are due to a
problem with a chip manufactured by a sub-supplier. The chip in
question was packaged using a plastic compound containing inorganic,
phosphorus flame retardant."

One user claims that ...

"Fujitsu sold these drives with foreknowledge of the problem
(oxidizing epoxy on the cirrus logic chip which causes failure over
time)."

OK, in that case I'd like to accept your kind offer. Can you let me

Fujitsu Australia didnt settle, the arses.

I hear Maintain Axis went into receivership after selling Fujitsu drives
to U of New ,
and having them struck off as a U of New supplier because of this problem
with the MPG's.

Retailers lost fortunes because wholesalers replace MPG's with MPG's and
MPG's are worthless - who can trust a MPG ?? You couldn't put them in a
computer because your name would be mud
if customers looked in the computer and saw that the had a fujitsu mpg...
