Hi All,

The left stick of my controller has started malfunctioning. The up and down does not seem to be working correctly, the left and right works. I opened the controller to see a bit of cleaning would help only to realize that a minor battery leak that happened a little while ago has touched the PCB causing the green portion to peal off.

I was planning on replacing the stick. (see image)

Please also see the portion of the PCB, that is immediately below the stick. (red circles show the leads of the stick)

Question is, is the replacement of just the stick less likely to work due to the PCB damage (due to the battery leak)

Thanks in advance.

A new stick should suffice.
As long as the copper is o.k., the pcb should work. You can repair the damage by covering the open copper using e.g nail varnish.

Thanks so much, was hoping to hear that!. So the green portion is not really important? I thought they are the tracks? (Sorry, I realise this is going to sound very dumb)

The tracks are made of copper, the green stuff is basically just a protective covering for the copper.
