This is neat. A poor man's Segway?

A New Zealand inventor has created a cool-looking folding electric bike
for scooting around the city. YikeBike is a statement about using smart
technology to solve the problems of our increasingly congested,
polluted, stressful cities. It is the first commercial expression of the
mini-farthing concept, created up by a bunch of successful
entrepreneurs, engineers and dreamers.

I saw something with the name yike 2 weeks ago, same basic shape
but I'm fairly sure it was plywood and aluminium, with gel-electrolyte
lead-acid batteries.

must have been a prototype.

segway prices in oz dollars:

so they are at least twice as dear Jason, perhaps a lot more when prices
are finalized.

1 kilowatt, useless without law change in most if not all of australia.
We need more sensible law makers.

1 kilowatt, useless without law change in most if not all of australia.
We need more sensible law makers.

200Watts, as law in NSW, is ample for achieving the objectives. Of
course, there will always be lard arses.

Simple mathematics says anything with a 1Kw motor will either weight more
than the human body(econimocal batteries), or cost more that a medium car
(lightest batteries) or have such a short range that it is effectively a
lard arse device to save people working a few city blocks.

They are the ones that say their machine is 1 kilowatt who am I to
argue. If it is it can not be used without rego and it would not pass
regulations.
