Eaton’s Range of Multilayer and Wirewound Chip Inductors: A Variety of EMC Options for RF Applications

Eaton's multilayer and wirewound chip inductors provide new EMC options for RF wireless circuits.

The line of chip inductors from Eaton offer design flexibility for many RF applications in multilayer and wire wound configurations. Coming in industry-standard sizes from 0402 to 2012 (multilayer) and 2520 to 3225 (wire wound), they boast tight inductance tolerance, desirable Q characteristics, and current ratings. 


Eaton's Multilayer Chip Inductors

The MCL multilayer chip inductors from Eaton feature multilayer monolithic construction for high reliability. They are also suitable for wave and reflow soldering. Available in three different variants—MCL1005, MCL1608V1, and MCL2012V1—they are capable of being deployed in a wide variety of applications.

The three MCLs operate at different inductance ranges of 0.47µH to 12µH (MCL1608V1), 0.047uH to 22uH (MCL2012V1), and 1nH to 360nH (MCL1005). The MCL1005 also offers high SRF. 

All three inductors come with a moisture sensitivity level (MSL) of 1 and have varying operating temperature ranges (ambient and self-temperature rise).

  • 0603 (1608 metric) package

  • Low DC resistance and high current

  • -40°C to 85°C operating temperature range (ambient and self-temperature rise)



  • 0805 (2012 metric) package

  • Low DC resistance and high current

  • 0.047µH to 22µH inductance range

  • -40°C to 85°C operating temperature range (ambient and self-temperature rise)


Potential Applications

Primarily designed for consumer, computing, gaming, and industrial products that contain Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and RF receivers and transceivers, the MCL family of chip inductors is ideal for customers designing electronic devices that rely on wireless communication architectures. 

The inductors are not limited to these consumer-focussed areas, though. Other potential applications include servers and databases, MedTech, diagnostic equipment, home care equipment, industrial connectivity, automation, logistics, and smart meters.
