Announced in July 2018, the board has been released in response to the growing number of engineers who require industrial single board computers (SBCs).

Redesigned from the ground-up, according to MikroElektronika, the 8th generation of the EasyPIC development board provides engineers with better control over development processes by making it more widely applicable and accessible from virtually anywhere.

It is a plug-and-play device that works over a generic USB driver and includes a CODEGRIP Suite to offer complete control over the board and intelligent management of programming tasks.

The EasyPIC v8

The EasyPIC v8 is a board that has been designed in response to the rapid development of embedded applications. The board includes innovative manufacturing technologies to assist with the production of prototypes and proof of concepts.

Based on Microchip's 8-bit PIC microcontrollers, the EasyPIC v8 offers a set of familiar features in addition to some new and unique ones. These features include programming and debugging over the WiFi network, USB-C connectors, and support for a wide range of MCUs. It also features an advanced programmer/debugger module and a reliable power supply module. EasyPIC v8's interactive components are segregated into sections that are designed in a way to save engineers' time when prototyping.

The board also allows you to choose from a wide range of 8-bit MCUs, eight different DIP sockets—ranging from DIP8 – DIP40—and has surface-mounted technology to ensure a sturdy and compact design.

Potential Applications

The v8 board is intended for use in electronic prototyping, and the board has been designed to facilitate this as quickly as possible; rapid prototyping means that engineers can take the most efficient and effortless routes to envision their designs and ideas, dramatically reducing time to market.

The EasyPIC v8 offers five mikroBUS sockets into which any of the 650+ available Click boards can be placed. These Click boards further enhance rapid prototyping by eliminating the need for hardware implementation and software development and are available across multiple categories including storage, displays, clock and timing, and motor control.
