AI meets edge computing with Syslogic and Nvidia’s recently announced strategic partnership that paves the way for AI development in the embedded systems market.
Nvidia, the world-renowned leading manufacturer of processor technology, and embedded systems specialist Syslogic are due to enter into what has been referred to as a “strategic partnership” that will see the two companies working together to advance AI development in the embedded market.
The partnership is to culminate in Syslogic being a new addition to Nvidia’s partnership program, Jetson Ecosystem. Companies that actively promote the development of products based on the Jetson platform, and thus help develop and pave the way for AI applications, form part of the Jetson Ecosystem. These include Neurala, Smasoft, and MiiVii.
Syslogic brings with it to Nvidia more than three decades’ worth of experience in the design and development of robust, ultra-rugged industrial computers. When coupled with Nvidia—the largely undisputed pioneer of the AI computing space with its Jetson platform—these ultra-rugged industrial systems are set to transform AI applications in the embedded market.
At present, Syslogic offers fanless and maintenance-free AI edge embedded systems using Nvidia technology (Jetson TX2 and Jetson Xavier) that were principally designed for use in construction and agriculture. Mining vehicles, trains, and smart city applications are just three of the many potential applications here.
The company is one of the world’s first to offer robust, ultra-rugged industrial computers based on Nvidia’s Jetson technology. Syslogic is also due to debut an AI ‘rugged computer’ based on the Jetson AGX Xavier platform at the upcoming SPS trade show in Nuremberg, Germany. This device has been called the “most robust device with a Nvidia processor” and boasts IP67 class protection.

For the Industrial Internet of Things (IIoT), AI edge computing opens up a world of opportunity across all industries. By combining AI computing with their three decades’ worth of experience in designing industrial computers, Syslogic will offer AI edge computers for applications in IIoT, industrial automation, railway technology, robotics, and more.
Furthermore, Syslogic and Nvidia hope to simplify AI integration for their customers with their partnership. To that extent, all Syslogic AI embedded systems will be delivered with a pre-installed Ubuntu package and a complete development environment including Nvidia CUDA libraries. These, along with Nvidia’s SDK and a deep learning framework for simple implementation of applications, are available for a quick introduction to the world of AI.
According to Michael Jung, Syslogic’s Product Manager, Syslogic is currently receiving a large number of inquiries for the AI embedded systems. He went on record to say that “Nvidia is one of the market leaders in the field of AI” and that “We [Syslogic] will make an important contribution to establishing the Jetson processor families in the industry”.
