So I am not very experienced when it comes to circuit design with electronics. I am interested in learning though. I have a project I would like to work on that I have a few questions about.

I have this kit:
http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_2126272_-1

That powers 3 sets of 4 LED's based on music being inputted. What I would like to do is keep the circuit as much the same as I can, only change the LED output to some LED strips.

Like these for example:
http://www.amazon.com/Non-Waterproo...&qid=1370276721&sr=1-1&keywords=LED+strip+RGB

but each strip would be a different color, and would be attached to the back of the desk.
The schematic for the original light organ that I put together is located here:
http://www.jameco.com/Jameco/Products/ProdDS/2126272 Schematic.pdf

What would I need to change in the circuit to switch the LED output? Both the original and the design with the strips appear to be able to take 12V in. Would it be as simple as swapping out the 4 LED's and resistors on the far right of the circuit?

Hopefully that makes sense. Also, and tips/warnings/comments are much appreciated!
