LED Sequencer Help

I have been tasked with producing as LED sequencer that fades in and out - RED , WHITE and BLUE . To obtain the colours and the right fade in/out timings, I feel this is going to be a dedicated micro controller circuit. I have two options operate single colour LEDs or the more preferred RGD LEDS.
Can anyone provide a circuit the will achieve this. I have enclosed a diagram of the proposed project.

About 30 years ago I used opamps to make RGB sequencers like that. The colors faded and brightened slowly and randomly so the 3 colors were mixed randomly producing many colors including black and white.
