I'm an electrician and I'm working on rewiring my house. When I was replacing an electrical receptacle behind it I found what is pictured wired into the electrical box from the back. I only posted in the RF for them because I was able to identify the CTS 206-6 switch box. Has anyone seen one of these or know what it is it's covered with this hard I think it's ceramic coating. On one of the sides it said it was model TX-bug 2 and was manufactured by some company called Cepco, based in California. However when you try to look up the company, there is little to no information the website that is listed for the company it won't let you even look at it and even on some of the other electronic security websites it won't give you any information about the company.

Potentially a remote receiver intended to make the socket into a remote controlled outlet. I can't see any microphone so it's not a 'bug' but the inclusion of a DIP switch means there may be any number of them fitted, each with different DIP switch settings.

It's also potted in an epoxy resin - typical for the application.

I suppose it's a possibility but I've owned the house for 15 years did they even have that kind of technology and early 2000s? I wasn't worried about a bug it's just an unusual thing I never seen anything like it especially behind the wall. Even if it was a bug they've got a really boring time listening to me I don't even have a girlfriend LOL. Anyway thanks for the reply

Yep, had the technology back then and before.
I had ‘Ripul’ home automation in the 80s and X10 in the 90s.
