Stereo worked perfectly for many years inside the office. I put it on a shelf in a covered outdoor cookshed for a year and now when I turn it on there is only very low volume staticy radio reception coming from the speakers. The remote control and the volume knob will turn up the volume only slightly.

Should I dispose of the stereo or is this something I can repair. I am not an electronics repair person. I am in the grocery business. I do own a meter and a soldering iron.

I know that I can replace it for little money at a thrift store but I hate to just have to dispose of it.

Any help is appreciated.

Have you opened up the unit?
Anybody living inside of it....bugs, things like that.
It's all about the money and time.
More than likely you have dried up polarized electrolytic capacitors. Take some photos. Both sides of the board please thank you.

It makes things almost impossible if you don't even know which way to lean a pipe to get water to run.
Give it to someone in the know and get another.

Check the all the joints and connectors with a multimeter. Also look for solder joints that appear dull or have cracks. Reflow if needed.
