Hello,

Friend brought this to me, so far I found not functioning IC 651 in
converter board.
Searched the net on this to find out that this is a common problem and it is
hard to find the Sanken chip and not to be taken by a fake (read chip)
replacement.
So far I have following voltages on the chip, with reference to pin 7
Pin 1 168 volts
Pin 2 0 volts
Pin 3 10 volts
Pin 4 0 volts
Pin 5 0 volts
Pin 6 0 volts
Pin 7 0 volts
Pin 8 10 volts
Pin 9 0 volts

Got the datashet for the STRS6301 chip, drew the schematic of the primary
site of the converter, all points bad IC, as I do not see so far any other
problem, HOT is not shorted etc.
Is there anything else that always goes on this set and where I can get the
right part.

Ziggie.

I usually replace this ic with all ecltrolytic caps on the pc board and have
no more problems. Remember to resolder the hor drive transformer.

In this model, we used to change the inverter IC, and all the caps on
the board. Usually the set worked after, unless there were other
problems as well. But, going by your readings, the first step is what is
mentioned here.

These IC's run hotter than hell! When you install the new one , make sure
you clean the heatsink extremely well and apply a fresh " thin " coating of
heatsink grease....not a ton of it , just a thin coating.

Buy from a reputable Sanken parts distributor.

Make sure you resolder the board up really well. On your main board also
resolder all the heatsinked devices , connectors and transformers.
