KV-K29SN21, yes, a Singaporean 68cm from the 90's.

Its been moved between 2 rooms and its now back in the first room, and has
purity problems in the top corners, this was 2 weeks ago, and its still
there.

its degaussing every time it turns on - on Sony's you can hear that on the
other side of the house... so that's not an issue.

what could it be?

You dropped it when moving it.

The internal degausser doesnt have enough degaussing power to get rid
of what you magnetised it with, you need to use and external degausser.

Hi John,
Sounds like a purity problem but
DO NOT TRY AND DEGAUSS WITH A DEGAUSSING WAND......if it's a trinitron tube
(which it almost certainly is ) you can permanently damage the tube.
Not sure how you degauss these tubes........see what the other blokes have
to say (will ask some of my serviceman mates )
Cheers
George

ok, some are saying degauss and you are saying not to.

now I don't know what to do.

Sony are suggesting that it may need a new tube, its had a hard life anyway,
on 24hrs a day for about 7 years, and the picture at regular brightness is
no where near as clear as one is to expect from a Sony.

I might just buy a new one, mind you, ive been quoted $600 for a new tube
plus $77 labor. but its only $1150 for a whole new TV with warranty. hmmmmm.

sonys exclusive patent licence has expired a while ago, which means there
are other manufacturers able to make trinitro style picture tubes.
mitsubishi-diamond
acer and banq (same parent company - who also own panasonic from what i can
tell) have manufactured trinitron based monitors.

so i guess other companies may include trinitron in there line-up?

don't care much for sony anymore, for them its playstation, thats it.
everything else is just a side step. quality is no better than anyone else.

I agree, but still can't find any of these for a fifth the price of a Sony
as was stated. :)
