Hi I have a set of 3 LED's that are acually manufactured as LED car dash lights(package only says they are BRIGHT BLUE) that are wired through a little circuit board in series and has what looks like some sort of resistor and is powered by a cigarette lighter adaptor. I want to cut off the cigarette lighter adaptor and use AA's not sure how many i need,if i need to cut them off the circuit board ,and if i need resistors. If so how I would wire everything up.I had a person at an electrical store that sells LED's tell me I dont need resistors,I had someone tell me I need 120 to 150 resistors connected to each LED.Thought I would try to get an opinion from a forum. Thanks .Attached is a pic of what i am working with

If it's designed to run from 12 volts, then 8 1.5 volt batteries in series would be appropriate.

If you want to run each LED separately, then at 4.5V (three AA cells in series) a 120 ohm resistor for each LED would probably be appropriate.
