TS to TRS microphone

My usb sound card requires a TRS microphone and I have a TS mono microphone I just want to test if it actually works before buying a TS to TRS converter. If I wanted to temporarily adapt it with a TRS connector the ground will be the sleeve and the tip will be the same I'm assuming but what will the ring be?

Is your microphone a dynamic type (coil and magnet) or is it an electret type (condenser mic with an electret voltage source to bias it and a Jfet that must use external power)?
I assume that the Ring terminal is what applies power to an electret mic and is not used with a dynamic mic. The TS plug on your mic will simply ground the Ring terminal with no problem with a dynamic mic.
If your mic is an electret type then it must use a TRS plug with its T and R connected together.
