Avon Derma Spec - continuous operation

Hello.

Those of you who read surplus may have seen a lot of Avon Derma Spec lamps sold
recently. They're a good UV source, but as manufactured for skin inspection,
only run about a minute.

Can I modify one to run forever with my 4W white tube. I want to use it as a
bicycle headlight and portable flashlight. I've loaded it up with 30 type 2460
NiCd cells as a battery. It's just what I need for my ultracapcitor bike.
Google up the ultracapacitor bike some time on Google Groups sometime.

If it's built with a thermal overload maybe a heat sink would do. If it's got a
timer maybe it can be defeated. Pressing the button is the ideal way to turn it
on.

I figure somebody has already cracked this one, or that it's worth doing for
more than just myself.
